Launch of 2nd Edition of the Observatory on the Strasbourg Christmas

Publié le December 1, 2011, Mis à jour le June 26, 2014

In the run-up to Christmas 2011, EM Strasbourg Business School is happy to announce the launch of the second edition of the Observatory on the Strasbourg Christmas Market. The new investigation will tackle the dimensions of lived experience on the market and, more broadly, in the city of Strasbourg.

In 2010, an Observatory on the Strasbourg Christmas Market was created within the HuManiS research laboratory (EA 1347) operating at EM Strasbourg Business School. The research undertaken as part of the first project allowed to ascertain the impact of perceived authenticity on the level of loyalty to the Christmas Market (a summary of the findings).

In 2011, the Observatory purports to investigate the dimensions of lived experience both on the market itself and during visitors' stay in Strasbourg. In order to do so, the students enrolled in the first year of the Grande Ecole Programme will take part in the project under the supervision of the two teacher-researchers in charge of the Observatory, Herbert Castéran and Claire Roederer. The students will be tasked with administering face-to-face surveys in French, English and German so as to better take into account the international dimension of the event. The surveys will be conducted on three locations (Place Broglie, Place de la Cathédrale, Place Kléber) from 4th to 15th December 2011.

At EM Strasbourg Business School, the Marketing courses are nurtured by corporate practices and high-level academic research. The internationally-renowned Strasbourg Christmas Market draws several million visitors each year, thus providing a rare opportunity to collect data and test models. The gathered data will be used as teaching and academic resources.
