Publié le April 27, 2016, Mis à jour le May 3, 2016

Meet Abheeuday Singh Kalsi, 22, from Punjab in India who joined our Programme Grande Ecole Master’s Degree through Pass-World in September 2015. We asked him about his experience in Strasbourg.

What motivated you to study abroad in France ?
The interest to meet new people and my love for France.
Why Strasbourg ?
With a perfect blend of German and French culture and home to European institutions, there couldn’t have been a better choice for studying.

In one word, how would you describe your state of mind before coming to Strasbourg ?
Excited !

What is your favourite spot in Strasbourg and why ?
Jardin des Deux Rives : I love going there for jogging.

What are the three things that you love the most about Strasbourg ?
Culture : The unique mix of Franco-German culture which makes Strasbourg different from other French cities.
Beauty : From the town’s medieval half-timbered houses to its scenic canals and soaring Cathedral de Notre Dame, Strasbourg will charm even the most stoic traveller.
Food : Strasbourg is one of the best cities in France for a food and wine connoisseur. From delicious Alsatian food to the famous Alsatian wine, you cannot miss any of it.

Is there one thing that you wish you would have known before coming here ?
The language !!! It is a must-know to integrate completely into the French culture.

Have you experienced some kind of culture shock ?
Yes, many ! One of them is that all the shops are closed on Sundays and you cannot do much.

What do you miss the most about your home country ?
Food ! I miss the spicy Indian food.

How does local food compare to your home cuisine ?
Comparing French food with Indian food, I’d say French food is plain and dry whereas Indian food is spicy. But both are delicious in their own ways.

How does Strasbourg compare to your home city ?
Unlike Strasbourg, my city is more of an industrial city with little historical heritage.

What do you like the most about EM Strasbourg Business School ?
Everything ! From a vast number of international students to amazing professors. It amazes me !

What was your favourite class and why ?
“Basics in Entrepreneurship”- I was able to know my potential and could work on a project which interested me. Also, the professor was amazing as she taught with so much passion.

Do you have any regrets about your stay in France ?
No, not at all ! I’m enjoying every bit of it. Every day I explore something new which makes me fall in love more with the country.

What would be your advice to a student who is planning to come to study in Strasbourg ?
Summers are amazing but it’s mostly raining in the winter. So, be prepared !
